2004年12月におこなわれたまるごと台湾忘年会で、参加者の方からオススメいただいたのが元衛覺醒（awaking）。

2004年5月にAVEX台湾より『元衛覺醒（awaking）』でデビュー。

　グループ名は、彼らの名前（是元介と衛斯理）から一文字ずつとり、「音楽創作を未来の進むべき路」とし覺醒を加えました。作詞作曲も彼らがおこなっています。是元介はscratch CD、衛斯理はGuiterが得意でこのアルバムの中でも余すとこなく披露されています。
　歌詞は、彼らが日常生活で感じたことや実体験を基に書かれていて、詞の内容に多々共鳴。同年代なら、友達の恋愛話や夢を聞いているような・・・　　ちょっと先輩なら、あ～あの時こんなこともあったな、こんなこと思っていたなぁ・・・と思い出すような。背伸びしすぎない、等身大の元衛覺醒を感じるアルバムです。
